Background

Globally institutions of higher learning are constantly under pressure in an ever changing macroeconomic environment. African Universities in particular are facing unprecedented problems derived from internal and external pressures. Today’s demands for change and institutional transformation are traumatic and fast paced, resulting from a confluence of interlocking factors including globalization, mass expansion, economic uncertainty, and political interference. These demands are overlaid with general challenges of service delivery and with new technologies connecting learners with content and with each other in new ways.
